Fancy a cup of tea in England?
Wimbledon is a name familiar to most. Not only is it the oldest tennis match in the world, but by many standards, it is also the most prestigious. Its first match was held in 1877, and this year it will take place July 2 – 15, 2018. The event hosts both singles and doubles matches for ladies and gentlemen, and has drawn the talent of tennis pros like John McEnroe, Serena and Venus Williams, Andre Agassi, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal.
Wimbledon, England is just a 45 minute drive or 35 minute train ride east from London. The ground on which the courts were built are owned by the All England Lawn Tennis Ground plc (AELT).
There are 18 grass courts total, and the tennis matches of Wimbledon are played on Centre Court and No.1 Court. In addition to those, there are eight American Clay courts and five indoor courts, two Greenset Velvalux and three Greenset Trophy. In the surrounding area, Aorangi Park, there are 22 grass courts and two green acrylic courts. The total area, including the parking lots, covers over 42 acres.
As there are matches for two consecutive weeks, and players from across the globe, travel consultants have the opportunity to create the ultimate day (or week!) for clients traveling to Europe during summer.

The 147th British Open Golf Tournament
If Tennis isn’t your cup of tea, then take a quick flight or scenic train ride to the lush Scottish greens of Carnoustie Golf Links. From July 15 – 22, 2018, the course will play host to the The 147th British Open Golf Tournament for the eighth time.
Carnoustie first hosted The Open in 1931, and as recently as 2007. The course was established in 1850 and was designed by Allen Robertson, Old Tom Morris, and, most notably, James Braid.

Craving a croissant in France?
France has two major events taking place this summer: The French Open (May 21 – June 10) @ Roland Garros Tennis Center and Ryder Cup (September 25 – 30) @ Le Golf National.
The French Open’s clay courts invite the top tennis players in the world to duke it out from May 27 – June 10. The event, which also goes by the name Roland-Garros, is the second of four Grand Slam tournaments, taking place after the Australian Open, and before Wimbledon and the US Open. The French Open is the only of the Grand Slams to feature clay courts, which means the slow-playing of the clay surface makes it the most physically intense of the tournaments. The clay surface also reduces any advantage that players who have a big serve and/or serve-and-volley technique.
2018 French Open Favorites (Men’s):
Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic have all proven themselves skilled on the clay courts, so we should see strong performances from them in 2018. Other men’s favorites include Dominic Thiem and Stanislas Wawrinka.
2018 French Open Favorites (Women’s):
On the women’s end, Serena Williams hopes to win the Grand Slam which her sister, Venus, was never able to see success in. Serena will be up against another familiar femme, Maria Sharapova, and competitive young players: Simona Halep, Garbine Muguruza, and Jelena Ostapenko.
The Ryder Cup is a biennial men’s golf championship that was established in 1927. What makes this event unique is that it is a competition between the best from Europe versus the United States. Another unique feature of this championship tournament, which is shared with the President’s Cup, is the fact that players receive no prize money.
The 42nd Ryder Cup Matches will take place from September 28 – 30 at the Albatross Course of Le Golf National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (near Paris, France). It is only the second Ryder Cup to be held in Continental Europe and will boast a ‘grandstand that’s unrivaled in golf.’
Team Europe is heavily favored in this tournament, but predictions will be more clear as the event approaches and teams are finalized.
Sadly, we will not see Stephen Atkinson participate as a wildcard player by invitation of Team Captain Thomas Bjorn.
Of course, if you prefer to dance the night away after an afternoon spent sipping fine wine in your favorite arrondissements, then you have the finest selection of artists to take your pick from.
