2017 – 2019
New York, Chicago, San Francisco & More
The hip hop infused Broadway musical has been the hottest ticket in town since its 2015 premiere with celebrities, athletes and politicians still lining up to attend performances on a daily basis. And now your clients don’t have to wait until they make it to New York. Hamilton is coming to them!
Hamilton has won a Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, 11 Tony awards, and was even summoned to the White House to perform a few songs for the Obamas and guests.
Hamilton is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary.
Lin Manuel-Miranda, both star and creator behind the Broadway hit, composed a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B. His unique perspective within the landscape of Broadway, tells the story of America then, as told by America now.
“I believe that form [rap] is uniquely suited to tell Hamilton’s story, because it has more words per measure than any other musical genre,” Miranda told 60 Minutes. “It has rhythm, and it has density, and if Hamilton had anything in his writing, it was this density.” The use of rap helps Miranda pack more than 20,000 words into two and a half hours—roughly 144 words per minute, according to Leah Libresco at FiveThirtyEight.
Fun facts:
- Miranda initially envisioned this project as a concept album. You can listen to his ‘The Hamilton Mixtape’ here.
- At the NYC theatre, Richard Rogers, all odd numbered seats are on the left, triple digit seats run down the middle, and even numbered seats are on the right.
Hamilton performances are still running on Broadway & in Chicago while the national tour is currently performing in San Francisco with stops scheduled across the US through at least 2019:
