The 103rd Rose Bowl

Posted by Events 365 | November 8, 2016 | Sports

The Rose Bowl, “The Granddaddy of Them All”, is college football’s original bowl game first played in 1902 and annually since 1916- usually on New Year’s Day except when it falls on a Sunday.

This year’s game will be held Monday, January 2nd 2017 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena CA. This “Never On Sunday” tradition began way back in 1893 when the founders of the Tournament of Roses Parade wanted to avoid startling the horses outside of the local churches and interfere with worship services.

Almost 1 million people from all over the world will attend the Rose Bowl Parade in celebration of the New Year starting at 8am. This year’s Grand Marshals include Olympic gold medalists & California natives Greg Louganis, Janet Evans & Alyson Felix.

Tailgating at the The Rose Bowl also starts at 8am. Free and open to the public there will be interactive displays and entertainment along with food and beverage purchasing options. Additionally, there is an “Official Pre-game VIP Party” hosted by two-time Super Bowl champion Terrell Davis in an exclusive area with unlimited open bar, upscale food selection, indoor/outdoor casual seating areas & live entertainment.

The Rose Bowl game itself will feature a fierce match-up between the Pac 12 champion and the Big Ten champion (unless either Conference Champion is chosen to compete in the College Football Semifinals.) Last year’s Rose Bowl contest was the most expensive of all 44 college bowl games with a secondary ticketing cost average of $625. Over 94,000 fans witnessed #6 Stanford win in a 45-17 romp over #5 Iowa.

Parade passes, VIP Pre-game party passes & Rose Bowl game tickets are all available for purchase at different price points through Events 365 for any clients traveling to Southern California. This is a unique New Year’s tradition that should live on everyone’s bucket list.
