On May 7th, at Churchill Downs, 20 horses will tackle the 1.25 miles “Run for the Roses.” Over 170,000 fans were on hand in Louisville last year to watch American Pharoah lead the field on his way to becoming the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.

he thoroughbreds Nyquist and Exaggerator are causing buzz as this year’s early favorites. And don’t discount long shot Whitmore who is being ridden by Victor Espinoza, the winning jockey of the last two Derbies.

Post-time is at 6:34pm but although the race is known as “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports”, Louisville decks itself for a full weekend of pageantry, celebrations & glamour.
