Holiday Entertainment across the US

Holiday Entertainment Options in Four Major Cities

As the breezes get colder, holiday entertainment options warm travelers and city-dwellers alike in all the major metro areas across the country. Places like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco are especially great havens for music, theater and other creative pursuits. Those traveling for business, family gatherings or vacations during December and into January can snag tickets to some of these seasonal extravaganzas, but agents might want to hurry because many of these events sell out before the doors open.

Holiday Happenings in New York City

It wouldn’t be a Christmas-time trip to the Big Apple without seeing the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. This year, technology is making a big impact on the traditional show, with lights and lasers creating a bright and merry aura around guests. The Rockettes open the show along with Santa, and the event is filled with impressive choreography. For those who want to dance instead of watch, Home for the Holidays  is a great option, and music lovers can get down at the K-Love Christmas, the Holiday Jam featuring Backstreet Boys and Fergie is also a great option.

Other events of note in and around Manhattan include performances from icons such as Andrea Bocelli and Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Families might also be interested in the Cirque Musica.

Festive Finds in Los Angeles

The east coast might ring in Christmas three hours sooner, but the west coast has plenty to offer travelers this season. Visitors to the City of Angels can choose from numerous versions of The Nutcracker, including performances from both the award-winning LA Ballet and the renowned Moscow Ballet.

Those who like more drama than dance can catch a theatrical performance of A Christmas Carol at A Noise Within in nearby Pasadena, and families can sing along to seasonal favorites at the White Christmas Sing-Along, which takes place at the Walt Disney Concert Hall. Nothing makes for holiday magic like the enchanting Disney surroundings.

Seasonal Selections in Chicago

The Windy City is prepared to blow visitors away with options for every age and preference. Families can go traditional with ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas or A Charlie Brown Christmas, both at the Broadway Playhouse. The familiar Peanuts story is made new with music and theatrical spirit, but it includes all the favorite characters such as Charlie Brown, Linus and Snoopy.

For more contemporary entertainment, families and comedy lovers can attend Elf: The Musical, and with the Russian Grand Ballet performing Swan Lake and at least two professional performances of The Nutcracker, Chicago’s stages will resound with the patter of slippered feet.

Winter Wonder in San Francisco

Back on the west coast, another California city welcomes travelers with season’s greetings and big entertainment options. It wouldn’t be San Fran without A Drag Queen Christmas. This singular event takes place on Dec. 27 at The Warfield. Contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race perform seasonal songs and strut the catwalk in this performance for all ages.

Traditionalists have plenty of options, too. The San Francisco Ballet performs The Nutcracker each season, as do other professionals companies, and visitors can also see presentations of A Christmas Carol and Charlie Brown Christmas: The Musical.

Wherever travelers trod this season, holiday entertainment isn’t far. By thinking ahead, agents can ensure clients have access to the best in music, theater, dance and merriment this year.
