Spring time is finally here, and Coachella starts tomorrow, which means that Music Festival season has officially begun! So grab your flower crowns and turn to Events 365 to get into the best fests across the US and around the world.

While many people choose to attend festivals near where they live, it’s not uncommon to see a group of 10 – 20 people build a full vacation around their festival of choice, because there’s nothing that quite compares to gathering a group of friends and see some of the hottest names in the game- all in one fell swoop. Whether for an extended weekend, a birthday celebration, or just because, hitting the road to see some shows is a guaranteed good time.

Music festivals have evolved in recent years and are now attended by people of all ages, with music preferences that span all genres. Some festivals cater to specific tastes, while others have a bit of it all. Art and technology installations, luxury amenities, gourmet food options, and craft adult beverages guarantee that attendees will not find themselves short of ways to stay entertained.

Below, is a look at what the most popular US festivals are offering this year.

Coachella Music and Arts Festival

Empire Polo Fields, Indio, CA April 13 – 15 and April 20 – 22

Coachella is the most popular music festival in the US, so popular in fact that the festival takes place over two weekends in April. Located in the heart of southern California’s Coachella desert valley, this festival maintains a history of surprise performances and heavy attended by celebrities. This festival goes beyond the music offering massive art installations and interactive experiences, plus great food and drink.

This year, Beyonce is making good on her 2017 commitment to the festival by headlining on Saturday night. She is joined by fellow headliners, The Weeknd (Friday), and Eminem (Sunday). Other can’t miss acts include Friday’s SZA, Kygo, throwback artist Jamiroquai, St. Vincent, vince Staples and many- many more.
On Saturday, big names that are sure to draw even bigger crowds include LA sister trio HAIM, Tyler the Creator, David Byrne, alt-J, Post Malone, and Fleet Foxes.

You can close out your last day of the festival with performance masters Odesza, Portugal the Man, man of the moment: Migos, A Perfect Circle, Miguel, and rap’s leading lady: Cardi B.

Hangout Music Festival

Gulf Shores Beach, AL May 18 – 20

There are not many music festivals in the south, but Alabama’s Hangout Music Festival is a major crowd pleaser. The event is hosted at Gulf Shores, AL, and includes indie rock, hip hop, and electronic music genres.

This beach festival’s prime location drew some of the best artists on the festival circuit, landing The Killers, The Chainsmokers, and Kendrick Lamar as headliners for the three days of dancing in the sand. Other acts worth checking out are plenty, randing from electronic to hip hop.

  • Electronic acts include Zedd, Galantis, Odesza, and Cashmere Cat.
  • Indie bands Portugal the Man, Foster the People, Grouplove, Cold War Kids, and Manchester Orchestra will get people feeling mellow.
  • Hip hop representatives Logic, Slightly Stoopid, and Lil Pump will bring some funk to the beach.
  • While female vocalists like Oh Wonder, Halsey, St. Vincent, and Greta Van Fleet are sure to make you swoon.

BottleRock Festival

Napa Valley Expo Center, Napa, CA May 25 – 27

As the name implies, BottleRock is an annual music and wine festival held in California’s grape-rich Napa Valley. During its 5th production, the 3-day festival will boast celebrity chef and vinter performances on a dedicated culinary stage, wine cabanas, craft beers and cocktails, VIP suites, silent disco, and (if all that wasn’t enough) epic after parties.

This year, BottleRock plays host to headliners Bruno Mars, The Killers, and Muse. Smaller acts that pack in just as many reasons to dance and toast feature Snoop Dogg, The Chainsmokers, Halsey, Earth Wind and Fire, Billy Idol, Phantogram, The Revivalists and plenty more to make sure every music genre junkie has a beat to step to.

Governor’s Ball

Randall’s Island, New York, NY, June 2 – 4

New York’s original music festival, Governor’s Ball, has continued to grow in popularity year after year. Part of the appeal lies in the fact that the organizers go beyond the music and provide entertainment in the form of games and other interactive activities, and photo ops for festival goers. Compared to July’s Panorama Music Festival, these festival-goers tend to be on the younger and wilder side so make sure you get your most elaborate pieces of fashion jewelry out for three action packed days of fun and music.

The 2018 lineup includes Jack White, Travis Scott, and most-frequently booked headliner, The Real Slim Shady himself. Other big names you can catch while running between games and instagram-worthy setting include Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Halsey, NERD, Khalid, Post Malone, 2 Chainz, Sylvan Esso and many more.

Bonnaroo Music Festival

Manchester, TN, June 7 – 10

Tennessee’s Bonnaroo Music Festival has won over the loyalty and adoration of fans that almost matches that of the Coachella festival-goers of southern California. The selection of artists spans genres so there’s a set at every hour of the show to please the crowds who piele into their campsites night after night to charge up for long days in the sun.

If you’ve made it down this far, you won’t be surprised to see that Eminem, The Killers, and Muse are headlining this festival, among several others. Smaller acts who you won’t find at all the major fests include Bassnectar, Bon Iver, Kaskade, Sheryl Crow, and COMEDY! That’s right, Bonnaroo is getting an edge by booking comedians around concerts to make sure attendees have a well-rounded experience.

2018 CMA

Nashville, TN, June 7 – 10

CMA Music Festival is Nashville’s music event of the summer centered around- you guessed it, country music. Originally established in 1972 as a Fan Fair, the event features over 400 artists and celebrities- far more than your standard music festival. The event runs for four days and artists are not paid to participate in the festival.

The 47th “annual gathering of the Stars of Country Music” will fill three venues around downtown Nashville with country music heavy-hitters Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Kane Brown, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Jordan Davis, A Thousand Horses, and a seemingly endless list of many others.

Panorama

New York, NY July 27 – 29

Put on by the same promotion company that has grown 17 tremendously successful years of Coachella, Panorama promise New York a top of the line festival experience with a powerful lineup, well-organized experience on the ground, and cutting edge interactive arts and technology installations.

This year’s lineup manages to stand out from the rest with headliners The Weeknd, Janet Jackson, and The Killers. Earlier in the day, festival-goers can soak up the tunes of Migos, Father John Misty, Dua Lipa, SZA, Cardi B Gucci Mane, The XX, Odesza, and more.

Don’t forget to plan time to make it into The Lab.

Lollapalooza Chicago

Chicago, IL, August 2 – 5

Boasting 8 stages and nearly 200 bands from around the world, Chicago’s Lollapalooza is one of the top “destination festivals” for music-junkies around the world. Genres of music include alt rock, heavy metal, hip hop, electronic, and more! And beyond the music you will find dance and comedy performances.

The lineup for Chicago’s crown music festival will play home to five headliners: The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, and Travis Scott. Meanwhile, second-tier talent like The national, Vampire Weekend, Odesza, Post Malone, Franz Ferdinand, and Khalid will warm up the crowds into the evening.
