It’s official! This year’s CFP Championship game will be a showdown between Lousiana State University and Clemson University.
The game will take place on January 13, 2020, at the Mercedes Benz Super Dome in New Orleans, LA; making this a fantastic opportunity for LSU to win its first championship in the College Football Playoff era on their home turf. While LSU is favored to win the title, they are faced with stiff competition in Clemson, who has won the National Championship twice since 2016.
This year’s National Championship game has been a long time coming for Louisiana State University. Fans and Louisianians from across the state will flock to Mercedes-Benz Stadium to fill the stands and root for the Tigers, as they compete for their first National Title.
This promises to be a thrilling game for LSU after their team dominated the OK Sooners in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. LSU’s star quarterback, Joe Burrow scored a record-breaking 8 touchdowns; completing 21 of 27 passes for 403 yards and a remarkable 7 touchdowns taking place in the first half alone.

For college football fans, Clemson is a household name. The University’s football program has been a powerhouse since 2014, making it to the championship game four times since 2015, and winning it twice (in 2016 and 2019).
After Clemson’s star quarterback, Trevor Lawrence was on the receiving end of a vicious hit from Ohio State cornerback Shaun Wade, things for the Clemson Tigers looked uncertain. Wade was promptly ejected, and Lawrence returned to the field with a little extra fire to help his team win the Fiesta Bowl 29-23, to advance to the National Championship Game.
