The team was founded in 1901 as the Washington Senators and moved to Minnesota in 1961, becoming the Twins. The team is named after the Twin Cities area, which includes Minneapolis and St. Paul.

The Twins have won three World Series titles, in 1924 (as the Washington Senators), 1987, and 1991. The 1987 and 1991 championships are particularly memorable, with the latter featuring a dramatic seven-game series against the Atlanta Braves.

Target Field
