World Cup 2026
The 2026 World Cup is set to be the most historic edition of soccer’s signature event, returning to North America from June 11 – July 19, 2026 and hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico — the first men’s World Cup ever co-hosted by three nations.
This tournament marks a major evolution in the sport’s global showcase with an expanded field of 48 teams, up from 32, increasing global representation and bringing fresh stories and nations into the spotlight.
The format features 12 groups of four teams, with the top two and the eight best third-place teams advancing to a new Round of 32, creating more matches and more drama than ever before.
Matches will be played in 16 host cities across the three countries. Eleven U.S. cities — from Los Angeles, Miami, and New York/New Jersey to Seattle, Atlanta, and Boston — will set the stage alongside Toronto and Vancouver in Canada and Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey in Mexico. The iconic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City will host the opening match, while MetLife Stadium in the New York/New Jersey area is scheduled to host the final.
The 2026 field blends traditional powerhouses like Argentina, Brazil, France, Spain, and England with new storylines born from expansion: smaller nations such as Curaçao and Cape Verde earning historic qualifications, while teams like Uzbekistan, Jordan, Norway, and Scotland return to the global stage seeking breakthroughs.
With 104 matches and stadiums filled from Vancouver to Monterrey, the 2026 World Cup promises unprecedented scale, unforgettable moments, and a celebration of the world’s most popular sport across an entire continent.
